NOCHE DE BOLEROS

Noche de boleros "Chilli" is a brand new Warner Music Poland production. Their first longplay album is a precursor of a new musical style „retro latino", which mixes old latin melodies with modern sounds, recently became very popular in Europe. Created and directed by Magda Navarrete, half polish and half Uruguayan singer, who took from her roots old Latin-American boleros and transformed them in contemporary music. "Chilli" is like a travel between different styles and rhythms from Latin-America and Spanish origin. Their main guide in music is bolero and flamenco. In the complexity of their musical arrangements Noche de Boleros demonstrates the moment when the tango from Rio de la Plata and Warsaw become unity.

Noche de boleros brings together a wonderful mix of Latin rhythms, smooth- jazz and innovatory arrangements for old Latin melodies - boleros mostly from 20ies and 30ies. The pulsating and nostalgic tradition is perfectly balanced by modern - often avant-garde approach to arrangements, rhythm and harmony. On their first album „Chilli" you can find mix of sad poetry with the dance of the gypsies, happiness of the carnival with bitterness of love in old Havana melodies. Songs such as "Esperame en el cielo"(classic bolero from Puerto Rico, famous in all Latin America), "El compromiso"(mixture of Latin and Spanish bolero) were adopted to "our times", showing a new face of bolero.

Tradition and modern never sounded better on one album.
Lyrics, old melodies and modern grooves riffs into your memory and won't let go as standard. All songs have different "flavors", traditional boleros down-to mid-tempo, light jazz , bossa nova and samba, all which are perfect for lounging during the day or after dark. The elegance of this music infiltrated by modern arrangements, and new rhythms converts a bolero in uncommon form. This CD aims for the ear rather than the hips, but don't be surprised if future remixes could flip that sonic script(Iman Project).

Noche the boleros breaks new ground with bolero and modern arrangements with their debut album now having sold thousands of copies in Poland and having shows in Europe, Latin-America and more recently in New York and Washington D.C. They really explore the capacity of this a bit forgotten style of Latin music. Bolero had to take one step backwards so it could move two steps forward in their "Chilli" album. Noche de Boleros suggest a different, avant-garde approach to the bolero tradition. It is visible in enthusiastic reactions of music critics after Magda's performances in Venezuela and Colombia, who were fascinated with her originality in her approach to this seemingly stiff musical genre.

The band is touring for some years now, and probably this is the reason why they preserve coherent sound regardless of the broad stylistic range they explore. The compositions are carefully selected, arranged and beautifully performed. It is audible that they passed the tough test of being played live and their live performance charm is irresistible. Thanks to this unique energy, their work got appreciated in many contrasting places and world festivals.

Noche de boleros marks in their album the old polish tango „Ta ostatnia Niedziela"- „El último Domingo"("The last Sunday")which was most famous, and beloved tango in that country. The piece of J.Petersburski, (Polish composer, who lived many years in Argentina) created the base for a musical experiment made by this group. „El último Domingo" demonstrated that the music can be transposed to universal language.
